PIX The Iran Issue

The eighth issue of PIX: A Photography Quarterly titled The Interior: A Special Issue on Iran is being launched at Mohsen Gallery in Tehran on August 16. It includes my poem response to the work of Iranian photographer Nikoo Tarkhani.

Other photographers featured include Azadeh Akhlaghi, Kaveh Baghdadchi, Arash Fesharaki, Babak Kazemi, Dariush Kiani, Mahdieh Mirhabibi, Ata Mohammadi, Reza Nadji, Ali Nadjian & Ramyar Manouchehrzadeh, Majid Saeedi, Mehrdad Asgari Tari and Gholam Reza Yazdani. Also featured are texts by Azadeh Akhlaghi, Mehrdad Afsari, Tooraj Khamenehzadeh, Meena Kandasamy, Deepankar Khiwani, Mehdi Moghimnejad, Ehsan Rasoulof, Sara Reyhani, Rahul Soni, Saleh Tasbihi & Newsha Tavakolian.

The issue will also be presented as a partner exhibition of the Delhi Photo Festival (September 27 - October 11). The Iran Issue will be re-launched at the Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan (New Delhi) on  September 20.

More than ever appropriate

My students chose "war" as a topic for a collaboration that had a stunning anti-climax today (when the next class's students and professor walked in on us as we were in the midst of creating a stunning: slideshow of photographs, eye doctor's war chart, illustrations, song-loops, chants, slogans, poem posters, blackboard art, warroom art - or it would have been stunning if we'd had the extra half hour which I believed we did (but since I had forgotten to check the classroom schedule... sigh... I felt foolish)) and we ended up frustrated and will try to somehow wrap it up Wednesday.

But that is not the point. I've been revisiting, and wanted to link to, Poets Against War.
